Handel’s masterpiece\, Messiah. \nFirst performed in Dublin in 1742\, Handel’s Messiah one of the most popular oratorios ever written. The work is in three parts: part one takes the audience from the prophecies to the birth of Christ; part two\, the dramatic heart of the work\, tells of Christ’s Passion\, Crucifixion\, Resurrection and Ascension\, ending with the gloriously optimistic Hallelujah Chorus; part three consists entirely of beautifully crafted reflective commentary\, principally on the the theme of Christian redemption. \nJoin the Fathers\, Brothers\, and musical family of the Cardiff Oratory in Swinton Street for this performance of one of the most beloved and powerful pieces of choral music ever written.
