SUMMARY:Preludes Music
DESCRIPTION:Preludes Music\, the education arm of the Bristol Ensemble\, continues its work in areas of Bristol that are experiencing high levels of economic disadvantage and aims to put music at the heart of every child’s education. By doing so we improve confidence\, co-ordination\, speech and language and benefit all other areas of their learning. \nPreludes Music has been running successfully since 2009 in several schools areas of Bristol. It is the most extensive project of its type in the country and grew from discussions between Roger Huckle of the Bristol Ensemble\, Professor Leslie Bunt of the University of the West of England and James Wetz a former Head Teacher. \nFind out more at www.bristolensemble.com/preludes

SUMMARY:The Birds and the Bees
DESCRIPTION:Moody Eagle Recorder Concerto (Bristol premiere)\nVaughan Williams The Lark Ascending\nVivaldi Goldfinch recorder concerto RV 428\nMcGarr Ear sness hear inthral (world premiere)\nDinicu The Skylark\nCasals Birdsong \nRoger Huckle conductor\nPiers Adams recorder\nEmil Huckle-Kleve violin\nImogen Triner oboe \nWhen is an Eagle not an Eagle? When it’s a recorder! This amazing instrument is at the heart of Piers Adam’s collection and for the first time a major concerto has been written for it by British composer Howard Moody. This spectacular work\, full of majestic melodies and virtuoso acrobatics\, is reminiscent of an eagle in full flight. \nWe also have a world premiere of Peter McGarr’s Ear sness hear inthral\, a beautiful work about bees and nature dedicated to the Bristol Ensemble’s principal oboist Imogen Triner. The programme continues with Vaughan Williams’ The Lark Ascending\, Vivaldi’s Goldfinch Concerto\, Gypsy composer Dinicu’s Skylark and Pablo Casals’ Birdsong. This will be an enthralling journey through 300 years of music influenced by the Birds and the Bees! \n
