Celebrating Roger Huckle

This Autumn we’re celebrating a huge milestone. After more than 30 years leading the Bristol Ensemble (originally the Emerald Ensemble), our wonderful founder Roger Huckle is stepping back from his administrative duties.

Roger has poured heart and soul into this orchestra, inspiring generations of musicians and audiences with his vision, energy, and unwavering passion. Luckily for us, he’s not going far! You’ll still see Roger performing with us on violin and conducting some of our larger concerts, which we’re all thrilled about.

We’re also excited to share that Simon Kodurand, our Artistic Director for the past three years, will step into Roger’s administrative role. Simon will guide the Ensemble and support Charlotte Dunling’s leadership of Preludes Music, which continues to bring high-quality music education to children across the West of England.

Here’s to Roger – for founding, nurturing, and inspiring this incredible community of musicians. And here’s to the next exciting chapter for the Bristol Ensemble! 💫
