BRISTOL ENSEMBLE BAROQUE
Period instrument orchestra exploring the repertoire of 17th and 18th century composers
Book UsBristol Ensemble Baroque was formed in 2019 to explore the repertoire of the 17th and 18th centuries on instruments familiar to the composers of the time. The group is formed of players from the Bristol Ensemble, many of whom are period performers in their own right, supplemented by musicians from the leading period orchestras in London and elsewhere.
The ensemble has a busy schedule of concerts at St George’s, Bristol, in addition to its regular concert series in Henleaze and Nailsworth. It is also the resident orchestra with If Opera in Bradford-on-Avon.
Recent performances have included Bach’s St John Passion at St George’s, Bristol, Handel’s Coronation Anthems at Bath Abbey, and a production of Purcell’s Dido & Aeneas with If Opera.
