This autumn, the Fitzhardinge Consort and Bristol Ensemble join forces to bring you Haydn’s epic masterpiece – The Creation.

‘The Creation’, written by Joseph Haydn between 1797 and 1798, celebrates the creation of the world as narrated in the Book of Genesis. Performed in Bristol Cathedral by some of Bristol’s finest musicians, this uplifting musical experience will take place underneath Luke Jerram’s Gaia – contributing a stunning visual element to the evening.

About the Musicians

Bristol Ensemble

“Bristol is fortunate to have such a fine orchestra as this” Bristol Live

Since its foundation in 1994, by violinist and Chief Executive Roger Huckle, the Bristol Ensemble has been at the forefront of musical life in Bristol and the Southwest. Versatility is one of Bristol Ensemble’s greatest attributes.

From the music of the 17th century, performed on original instruments, through to contemporary composition and experimental music, Bristol Ensemble is a collective of specialists that collaborate to provide the highest calibre of performance for a wide range of audiences.

The Fitzhardinge Consort

As purveyors of exquisite a capella choral music, The Fitzhardinge Consort is one of Bristol’s premier ensemble choirs. Their primary purpose is to bring international-standard, rarely-performed music to the South West of England and beyond. The choir has an ambitious programme of charity, education and outreach work in the pipeline, designed to bring music to those that need it most but hear it least.

The choir sings regularly across the region to great critical acclaim, and has become known for its exciting and original interpretations of Renaissance and Baroque music, as well as new works of living composers. Fitzhardinge is committed to encouraging young musicians, and a handful of university students are mentored by the more experienced members of the group.

Bar

A bar will be available throughout the event. Alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks will be available. Card only.

Children

Children must be accompanied by an adult. Please ensure there is a ratio of no more than four children to one adult. Children’s ear defenders are available to borrow on a first come first served basis.
