The Bristol Ensemble’s wind players perform two chamber music masterpieces. Richard Strauss had just turned 17 when he composed his Suite For 13 Wind Instruments in 1881. The music itself is melodic and lyrical, revelling in the rich, full sound of the ensemble. Beethoven’s Octet is another youthful work, a tuneful and sunny summation of the charm and colour of classical wind chamber music.
