David Pagett

David Pagett studied clarinet at the Royal Northern College of Music with Sidney Fell and Janet Hilton.

Following his studies, he embarked on a career as a freelance musician, performing with numerous prestigious orchestras. These included the Manchester Camerata, Northern Ballet Theatre, Opera North, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, BBC Northern (Philharmonic), and BBC Welsh Symphony Orchestra.

With a passion for big band music, David seized an opportunity to play for a touring production of 42nd Street. This experience led him to shift his musical focus for several years, during which he performed in various West End and touring productions, such as Les Misérables, The Phantom of the Opera, Chess, and West Side Story.

Marriage and the responsibilities of family life eventually brought David to Bristol, where he rekindled his love for chamber music, performing extensively throughout the South West region, both as a soloist and an orchestral player. In addition to his role as principal clarinettist with the Bristol Ensemble, he maintained a busy teaching schedule. Until recently, he also conducted the South Gloucestershire Youth Wind Band for nearly three decades.

Outside of his musical pursuits, David enjoys hobbies such as caravanning, walking, gardening, and occasional DIY projects.
