Emma Davies

Emma is a clarinettist and passionate community musician. She joined the Preludes Music team in 2017 and delivers whole class and clarinet lessons to brilliant young musicians across a number of different schools. Every day brings new challenges, joys and surprises and she feels endlessly privileged to be a part of so many young people’s first steps into a life of loving music.

Emma has been playing the clarinet since she was eight years old, and has loved every moment since, particularly relishing any opportunity to work collaboratively. She has been working in music since she graduated in 2017 from Bath Spa University, where she discovered a love for community music and outreach, working on a first access Djembe Drumming project with Drumwest during her placement. Following this, Emma began working for Preludes Music before graduating with an MMus in Performance (distinction) from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

Alongside her work with Preludes Music she also works for Arts Active, Cardiff’s vibrant community arts hub, leading a weekly music workshop for adults with additional needs as well as two inclusive ensembles in specialist schools through Open Orchestras. Emma also enjoys a long-standing relationship with Wiltshire Rural Music, who provide music making opportunities for people living in rural areas of the county. As part of a joyful partnership with Charlotte Dunling (Preludes Music project manager and tutor) she gives performances in care homes and other community settings. As a clarinettist she is passionate about British repertoire and loves collaborating with composers on new works.

Outside of work Emma loves stomping up hills, cooking, and open water swimming.
