Nivedita Sarnath
Nina’s journey as a violinist began at age 4 at St. Cloud Suzuki Studio in Saint Cloud, Minnesota, USA. She has since studied at Harvard University, Boston Conservatory, and most recently the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she was awarded the Winifred Small Prize for Violin. She is especially inspired by early music, contemporary classical music, and world music, and at home on both Baroque and modern violins.
In 12 years of freelance work, she has played with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and the Grammy-winning Boston Modern Orchestra Project, as well as many other orchestras on both sides of the pond. She joined Bristol Ensemble in 2021 and has enjoyed playing everything from Vivaldi to Pink Floyd.
Nina is a dedicated teacher and is a tutor at Gloucestershire Academy of Music as well as maintaining a private teaching studio. She particularly enjoys teaching adult amateurs and believes it is never too late to learn an instrument!
She lives in Stroud with her husband and enjoys singing, gardening, long walks, and herbal tea.
