Simon Jones
Simon grew up near Dartington in a busy household, one of six musical children. He completed his degree at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire on Music gaining a First Class Honours.
Simon thrives with the challenge of performing in a diverse mix of styles ranging from the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and English Symphony Orchestra, to recordings and shows with The Royal Shakespeare Company, Touring with The Divine Comedy, Barry Manilow, Roger Daltry and Alice Cooper.
Simon has been a member of the Bristol Ensemble since 2000 and his highlights include recording for Aardman Animations, performing Vivaldi’s Double Trumpet Concerto, and the annual Christmas Spectacular shows in St George’s.
As a portfolio musician Simon is also a passionate teacher and enjoys inspiring young students to develop a love for the trumpet, up to Postgraduate level at Bristol University. Simon has coached for several National organisations including The National Children’s Orchestra, National Youth Wind Sinfonia of Great Britain and education projects including working for an orphanage in Calcutta.
Outside music, Simon is kept busy with his family in Somerset and in any spare time enjoys walking his dog on the Mendips, and gardening!
